Options Counseling (OC) is a free, person-centered service mandated under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 211 of the Acts of 2006 and available statewide through the Aging and Disability Resource Consortium (ADRC) No Wrong Door (NWD) network.

Options Counseling helps older adults, individuals with disabilities, Caregivers, and families explore long-term services and supports and make informed decisions about their care.  Services include unbiased information, education, and decision-support related to community resources, housing, transportation, caregiver supports, personal care services, and long-term care options.

Through partnerships with Aging Services Access Points (ASAPs), Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs), Independent Living Centers (ILCs), and other community organizations, ADRC partners help individuals access the services and supports needed to promote independence, choice, and community living.

This is a short interim support program lasting 21 days or less.  Services are offered in a variety of settings, including hospitals, nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, community locations, and individuals’ homes. Support may be provided in person, virtually, by telephone, email, or mail.
