History of Options Counseling
Mandated by Massachusetts General Law Chapter 211 of the Acts of 2006 as a free short-term (30 days or less), statewide service that helps older adults and individuals with disabilities explore long-term support options.
1. Provides unbiased information and decision-making support on services like personal care, transportation, nutrition, medication management, and housing to consumers.
2. Offered in person, virtually, by phone, email or by mail, and can take place in hospitals, in the home, or anywhere in the community.
3. Goal: guide individuals and families with care choices to make informed decisions.
4. ADRC Partnerships help to access community or institutional services in collaboration with other programs as Community Transition Liaison Program (CTLP) or Family Caregiver Support Program (FCSP).
